New York based Phil Varca & The SlamJammers have been together for over 30 years and continue to thrill audiences with their driving brand of hard rockin’ blues. Lead by the non-stop powerhouse guitar of Phil Varca, he is clearly a descendent of the Hendrix/Vaughan tribe, with a guitar style all his own. As both a player and a singer, he becomes completely engrossed in the music, and any who watch and listen are immediately swept along for the ride. Extended improvisational jams and musical interplay have come to define the group’s live performances. The trio of Varca, bass player Tom Porter and drummer Russell Stone display a finely tuned ability to listen to and play off of each other so that the interplay of musical ideas is a constant flow. The group’s raw, guitar driven grooves and energy creates a big sound with no frills. Their live shows have truly become one of their greatest assets. Hearing is believing!
“Ready, Willing & Able” and “Live at Riverhead”, the bands’ respective studio and live recordings are both available on-line and are also streamed daily around the globe.
The group has has enjoyed many notable performances, including shared bills with: Robin Trower, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Foghat, Dave Mason, Bo Diddley, Clarence “Gatemouth”Brown, NRBQ, Double Trouble, Shemekia Copeland, Chris Duarte, Popa Chubby & John Cafferty.
